Two Men Face Charges Regarding Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.
A three-year-old girl was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were subsequently released.
This event – described by police as was not part of a series and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
