DJ Warras was gunned down by a man with dreadlocked hair in the middle of the day, authorities report.

A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose of the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.

The Fatal Incident

Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had been present for hours at the site supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report stated.

Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed across the street.

Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the incident.

Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and investigators have been tracking them to establish their location," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.

"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were ready to tackle. This is a devastating blow."

She urged the citizens to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a popular local broadcasting platform.

Apart from his media career, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including private security, supplying elite guarding services and managing safety for prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
