The blaze engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of January 1st. Verified images show the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Officials have warned that it could take an extended period to identify the victims of the fire, which killed 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process still underway to name the remaining few.
