Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded on Thursday, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's triumph, its skilled cast also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards during the ceremony.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four special—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by critics.
