British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans offered sympathy for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
