Barça to Host First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. After final construction, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
