A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a first responder, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
